Did anyone really think that movies that generate 100′s of millions of dollars were going to end? Don’t thro away your Team Edward and Jacob shirts just yet. On Sunday, Kristen Stewart took the 2012 MTV Movie Awards stage with “Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ co-star Taylor Lautner to nab the Golden Popcorn for Movie of the Year for the fourth year in a row. During her acceptance speech, she assured fans she’s not distancing herself from the vampire saga.
Lionsgate CEO “Hopes they Make More Twilight Projects
“I’ve been promoting ‘Snow White,’ and I get asked a lot of questions, especially about ‘Twilight,’ which I love. The most common one is like, ‘God, you must be so happy to get away from it. You must be so happy to just distance yourself from that as far away as you possibly can.’ I’m just like, ‘Shut up! What are you talking about?’ “
Earlier this year, the chief executive of Lionsgate Entertainment, Jon Feltheimer, said he believes the vampire saga will remain valuable after the November 16 release of “Breaking Dawn – Part 2.” When asked if his company would helm any future “Twilight” projects, he said,
“It’s an amazing franchise that they have done a great job of maintaining with absolutely no deterioration. So the simple answer is ‘Boy, I hope so.’ “
So I am not surprised, the movies make money, the fans love them, and the actors love making the movies. Sounds like win / win for everyone!
Even Stephanie Meyer says there is hope!
When MTV News caught up with Meyer on the set of her latest project, “The Host,” we asked if Edward, Bella and Jacob will be brought to life again — in print or onscreen. Her answer gave hope to “Twilight” fans everywhere when she revealed she already has the characters’ futures in mind.
“Things change so much from week to week, let alone year to year. I mean, there are other stories,” she said. “I have a really hard time putting down characters, and so I know what would happen.”
