Anna Kendrick Golden Globe Rumor

It is rumored that Anna Kendrick, who plays Bella's bubbly friend Jessica in the Twilight movies, will be nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her performance in Up in the Air. Hollywood insiders say that there is a very good possiblity that the young actress's name will appear on the nominees list which will be announced on December 15.

Anna Kendrick and other members of the Twilight cast are scheduled to attend a Golden Globes' annual Young Hollywood party tonight. Kendrick's castmates scheduled to attend include Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Alex Meraz, Edi Gathegi, Kellan Lutz, and Christian Serratos. Kristen Stewart Gets Rough with Alex Meraz

In New Moon the novel, Bella gives Paul a piece of her mind causing an all-out wolf scuffle between him and Jacob. Read this Fearnet interview with Alex Meraz, who plays Paul in New Moon the movie, about filming the "slap scene" with Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella Swan.

You and Kristen have a very adversarial encounter in the slap scene. Do you think that Paul really wants to kill her in that moment?

Yes, definitely! He’s compulsive, you know. He kind of goes with the flow, but he’s volatile, but not in a “I like to hurt people” way; he’s very proud. He has a thick sense of pride, and he really wants to protect the reservation and she’s bringing nothing but trouble. So in that scene, I’m thinking in my head, “Do something to make me change, so I can kill you.” Just do something, because I’m itching to kill her. She’s a nuisance, a problem. That was that way I did it in the scene, and of course she hits me, and that’s enough to change me.

Did you and Kristen rehearse that a lot beforehand?

Not at all. We did one rehearsal the day of, said our lines, and we were good! The next day, we shot it and experimented – one time I tried grabbing her throat, which she was not fond of – and we played around with it, the director gave us good stuff to do, and it was what it was.

Did Kristen really hit you in the face?

She started finding a home for that fist on my face. It was getting really close.

Alex Meraz Heats Up New Moon

Summit Entertainment announced last week that Alex Meraz had been cast as wolf pack member Paul in the Twilight sequel New Moon. When his photos came out, he quickly became very popular among Twilight fans. Who is Alex Meraz? Celebuzz interviewed Meraz's friend and mentor Raoul Trujillo. Read it here:

HE'S, UM, PRETTY HOT (OKAY, THAT WAS OUR POINT): "The camera loves him," agrees Trujillo. "Everywhere we go people are always saying, 'Good God, who is your friend.'"

"This is only going to be scarier now."

HE'S GONE FROM 'NEW WORLD' TO 'NEW MOON': Meraz's first big film was New World as one of the Powhatan core warriors. "That's kind of where he got the bug," says fellow New World cast member Trujillo. "It was an incredible experience."

Meraz was in the running, but was turned down for Apocalypto: "Mel felt he didn't look Mayan enough, which was silly." says Trujillo who was cast. "I don't look Mayan either, but they put a prosthetic nose on me and I looked plenty Mayan."

HE'S A SERIOUS DANCER: Meraz came to Trujillo's attention when another choreographer found him break-dancing on the streets in Phoenix, Arizona. Besides break-dancing he excels in indigenous and contemporary dancing. Meraz is "an inherent dancer" says Trujillo. who is also a choreographer.

Even Colin Farrell was impressed when Meraz busted some moves at the New World wrap party. Trujillo: "Colin was just sitting and watching cross-legged all ga-ga going, 'Oh my god.' "

HE CAN KICK SERIOUS VAMPIRE BUTT: Alex has studied mixed martial arts, winning numerous tournaments in karate and the martial art of Capoeira. "He's a pretty lethal martial artist," says Trujillo. "He can kick some serious ass."

So who'd win: Alex or a vampire? "If it were going to be one of the Twilight vampires, I'd bet on Alex in a minute," laughs Trujillo. "But in the end, you bet on the screenwriter. They say what's going to happen."

THE DUDE WORKS HARD: Nabbing the key role in Twilight was no fluke for the young actor. "If there's anyone I have known in my life that deserves this, it's Alex," says Trujillo. "He's worked his ass off in the time I have known him. He never lets up."

Beyond staying in top physical shape, the actor-student works hard on honing his craft, including his New Moon audition. "Alex drove from Phoenix to my ranch in New Mexico on his birthday weekend so I could help him with his audition," says Trujillo. "It's about 8 hours each way. But he knew he needed to get this done."

"He's humble," says Trujillo. "And he always showed that he was willing to listen and learn."

Even with those essentials, it took a lot of work, luck and talent to break through.

"New Moon happened to be there at the right time," says Trujillo. "This is his first big break. And what a break to have. This whole thing is a phenomena."

SORRY LADIES, HE'S MARRIED: Alex is madly in love with his Vietnamese-American wife Kim. They have a child named Somak (Trujillo is the god-parent). Kim was the one who was a true Twilight fan.

"His wife is the one who has read all of those books. And she's the one who said look, you have to got to get into this. This is perfect for you. You're the one."

FINALLY, HE'S RIPPED: "I sometimes have to tell him, 'I hate you, put your shirt on,' " says Trujillo.

"He's slender anyways and he has a body that just is that way. He doesn't even really work out because if he works out he gets huge. He's got these shoulders on him. It's from the martial arts and the break dancing. And he's one of those genetically gifted guy."

"They are going to have to get a trainer for everyone else on set or he is going to stand out like a sore thumb."

Alex Meraz (who plays Paul) was out on the streets in Vancouver this weekend. I DEFINITELY am pleased with the casting director's choices to play the Quileute wolf pack teens.

Chaske Spencer, Bronson Pelletier, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon
and Tyson Houseman to Star as Members of Wolf Pack

Los Angeles, CA March 23, 2009 – Summit Entertainment announced today that Native American/First Nation actors Chaske Spencer, Bronson Pelletier, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon and Tyson Houseman have signed on to star as the members of the wolf pack in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON. In the film, the wolf pack defends humans against vampires although they have a tribal history intricately entwined with Edward Cullen and his family. The wolf pack members will join Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and fellow wolf pack member Taylor Lautner in the film directed by Chris Weitz which will be released domestically November 20, 2009.

Casting of the wolf pack was overseen by award-winning casting director Rene Haynes who is well-known for her work on Native projects ranging from DANCES WITH WOLVES to BURY MY HEART AT WOUNDED KNEE.
