In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke admitted that she turned down a huge sum of money to direct New Moon, because she didn't want to make the sequel to Twilight under the deadline and budget restraints. Summit Entertainment has "no comment" on the subject of Catherine Hardwicke turning down New Moon. Catherine has written a book entitled Twilight: The Director's Notebook detailing her experiences directing the successful film and working with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
